Postulates for Time-evolution in Quantum Mechanics
نویسنده
چکیده
A detailed list of postulates is formulated in an algebraic setting. These postulates are suucient to entail the standard time evolution governed by the Schrr odinger-or Dirac equation. They are also necessary in a strong sense: Dropping any one of the postulates allows for other types of time-evolution, as is demonstrated with examples. Some philosophical remarks shall hint on possible further investigations.

Is PT -symmetric quantum mechanics just quantum mechanics in a non-orthogonal basis?
One of the postulates of quantum mechanics is that the Hamiltonian is Hermitian, as this guarantees that the eigenvalues are real. Recently there has been an interest in asking if H = H is a necessary condition, and has lead to the development of PT -symmetric quantum mechanics. This note shows that any finite physically acceptable non-Hermitian Hamiltonian is equivalent to doing ordinary quant...
متن کاملPosition Eigenstates and the Statistical Axiom of Quantum Mechanics
Quantum mechanics postulates the existence of states determined by a particle position at a single time. This very concept, in conjunction with superposition, induces much of the quantum-mechanical structure. In particular, it implies the time evolution to obey the Schrödinger equation, and it can be used to complete a truely basic derivation of the statistical axiom as recently proposed by Deu...
متن کاملSome Comments on Three Suggested Postulates for Quantum Theory
Three basic postulates for Quantum Theory are proposed, namely the Probability, Maximum-Speed and Hilbert-Space postulates. Subsequently we show how these postulates give rise to well-known and widely used quantum results, as the probability rule and the linearity of quantum evolution. The suggested postulates also enables us to criticize EPR elements of reality under the Special Relativity phi...
متن کاملMinimal Set of Quantum Postulates and Realistic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics
We argue that quantum mechanics makes sense without such controversial postulates as the wave function collapse, the quantum probability rule and the observable postulate. We only need the existence of a wave function as a representation of a state, its dynamical evolution rule and another rather trivial postulate proposed here (Read-Off Postulate). The wave function collapse and the probabilit...
متن کاملQuantum Mechanics and the Mechanism of Sexual Reproduction
There are many claims that quantum mechanics plays a key role in the origin and/or operation of biological organisms. The mechanism of the meiosis, mitosis and gametes life cycle from the view-point of quantum for human has been represented. The quantum gates have been used to simulate these processes for the first time. The reason of several hundred sperms has been explained in the male too
